New Baby at the Zoo

Oh how wonderful, at Perth Zoo. a rare breed of giraffes has been born. It is a four day old Rothschild giraffe. The calf dosn't have a name yet but we will all wait with excitement for a name to be chosen . The calf made his first appearance the other day and he is the first calf to be sired by the new breading male Armani who is four years old.

"There are only about 400 Rothschild's left in Africa, so it's very important for institutions like Perth Zoo to continue with a giraffe breeding programme. The unnamed calf seams to be suckling well and has already started grazing.
