Australia Day 2009

On the 26th January each year Australians celebrate our national day, and in so doing, define what it means to be Australian. The day traditionally marks the landing of Captain Arthur Phillip at Port Jackson in Sydney, claiming Australia for the British Empire. Early settlers, perhaps marked the the day as a special day each year after arriving. Today it is a public Holiday and some people celebrate by having BBQ's others picnics but what ever way we celebrate the day people enjoy themselves. I am proud to be an Australian as I was naturalized some 20 odd years ago .
