St Paricks Day

ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATING --- THE WEARING OF THE GREEN
St. Patrick is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. The modern secular holiday is based on the original Christian saint's feast day also thought to be the date of the saint's death. In 1737,
Today, the tradition continues with people from all walks of life wearing green, eating Irish food, and attending parades. St. Patrick's Day is bursting with folklore; from the shamrock to the leprechaun . I am 1/2 Irish from my mums side her maiden name was [Stokes]. Have been to County Cork and visited my family there . It's a beautiful part of the world. so much green country side . Traditionally it is a religious occasion. In fact, up until the 1970s, Irish laws mandated that pubs be closed on March 17 as it was a religious day . Now in the modern world the Government decided to celebrate the day by allowing the pubs to remain open. so that the day can be celebrated in the way that people want to .
